A Cardshark  (Or lesser known Card Sharp) is a card player who downplays his or her skills prior to the start of a game and then cleans up the table after everyone has underestimated said skills. In actuality the Cardshark has serious gambling skills that may or may not include sleight of hand and other ways of cheating. Cardsharks aren’t likely to be found at online casinos as it’s more difficult to sucker people there, but as you perfect your game you may feel the need to branch out and gamble in brick and mortar casinos and when you do, you’ll need to know what to look out for. Card sharks who employ cheating methods often use false shuffles of the deck, manipulating the cards into position to be dealt in the order the cardshark desires, these techniques are called culling or stacking.

Less commonly the title Cardshark is used to refer to someone who performs tricks with cards such as ’springing’ which is where you spring each card in a deck from one hand to the other in quick succession.

Cardsharks can be found anywhere casinos or most gambling establishments may be and present themselves as bumbling slightly foolish people who are looking for a game. They lull their victims into a false sense of security but after a few rounds start winning more and more of their money. This may in fact leave the victim partially at fault after all if he or she had not agreed to play with someone who appeared not to be particularly skilled out of what we can assume the player accepted the game out of the same greed for winning as the cardshark has, then they would never have been swindled in the first place.
